MIDDLEBURY, VT | The FSC men’s golf team competed in the opening round of Middlebury College’s Duke Nelson Invitational on Saturday and shot a team total of 312 (+28). The Rams, who won their season-opening tournament last weekend, sit in 13th place out of 23 competing teams.
Hartford (+14) leads the pack with a score of 298 after 18 holes.
FSC senior Brad Castaldy (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and sophomore Padruig Douglas (Northport, N.Y.) both fired a plus-5 score of 76 in round one. They are tied for 25th place individually out of 120.
Three Rams, Mackenzie Kim (East Quogue, N.Y.), CJ Merritt (Plainview, N.Y.) and Rishi Talwar (East Farmingdale, N.Y.), each shot a nine-over score of 80. Talwar highlighted the day for FSC with an eagle on hole number three.
Ramon Aroca Gonzalez (-1) of Hamilton was the lone student-athlete to shoot below par on the day.
