BUIES CREEK, N.C. – For the fourth-straight year, Campbell will compete in Georgetown University’s fall men’s golf tournament. And for the fourth-straight year, the event will be held at a different location.
The Camels and three other Coastal Athletic Association members are among 12 teams that will compete Monday and Tuesday at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, N.J.
Campbell finished third in last year’s Georgetown Intercollegiate at Woodmont County Club North in Rockville, Md. The 2022 event was hosted by Liberty National in Jersey City, N.J., while the 2021 tournament was held at the Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.
The Camels opened the season with a runner-up finish Sept. 10 at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate before placing sixth in the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational.
Head coach John Crooks and associate head coach Matt Moot will send the same lineup to Echo Lake that competed at the team’s first two tournaments. Seniors Henric Bjelke and Douglas Nordlof will be joined by sophomores Erik Johansson and Joachim Larsen Tegner and freshman Benjamin Killingstad.
Campbell will be paired with Georgetown and Princeton for Monday’s first two rounds. The 54-hole event concludes Tuesday. Live scoring is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.

The Course: Echo Lake CC (Par 71, 7202 Yards)
Founded in 1921 following the merger of the Cranford Golf Club and Westfield Golf Club, Echo Lake Country Club is home to a par-71 Donald Ross design that dates to 1913. Robert White added six holes in 1919, and Willard Wilkinson added three more in 1928. Rees Jones was hired as consulting architect in 2010 and unified the design by creating Ross-inspired bunkers with molded grass faces throughout the 18-hole layout. Located about an hour’s drive from New York City, Echo Lake hosted the 1994 USGA Junior Amateur and 2002 USGA Girls’ Junior Amateur.
The Coach: Now in his 35th year in charge of the Campbell men’s golf program and 34th as head coach of the CU women, John Crooks has been named league coach of the year 23 times in his tenure. His teams have combined to earn 36 NCAA post-season trips, including 15 in a row team and individual invitations. His teams have won 161 tournaments and with 100 career tournament titles, Crooks trails only Dan Brooks of Duke (143) on the all-time coaching victories list among Division I women’s coaches. He has guided his teams to 27 league titles, including 19 on the women’s side and eight in men’s competition.
The Lineup:
Senior Henric Bjelke (Oslo, Norway) matched his lowest 54-hole score while representing the Camels in the season opener at Myrtle Beach (69-71-71—211) where he finished T8. He tied for sixth at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational (75-72-70—217) and was named CAA golfer of the week Oct. 2. He has played par, or better, golf in 11 of his last 13 rounds, dating to the 2024 spring season (5 of 6 this year). He owns a team-leading 71.3 scoring average in ’24-25. Bjelke has finished among the top 20 individuals in each of last six starts for Campbell. He was a 2024 Cobalt Golf GCAA All-America and the 2022 Big South Conference freshman of the year. Collegiate career low round: 68 (2024 CAA Championship); Career-best finish: T5 (2024 Cutter Creek Intercollegiate).
Sophomore Erik Johansson (Hollviken, Sweden) opened the season with a T16 finish at Myrtle Beach (69-75-69—213) and finished T20 in the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational (76-76-72—224). He owns a 72.8 stroke average and has played par, or better, golf in three of six rounds this season. Johansson was named CAA rookie of the year and a first-team all-conference selection in 2024 after he posted a team-leading 72.26 stroke average, which stands 19th all-time among Campbell single-season leaders and 2nd among CU freshman class records. Johansson earned an individual berth in the 2024 NCAA Chapel Hill Regional.

Sophomore Joachim Larsen Tegner (Lier, Norway) opened the season with a T8 finish at Myrtle Beach (71-69-71—211) and finished 12th (73-74-73—220) at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational. He has posted a 71.8 scoring average this year with 3 rounds of par, or better, golf. Last season, he compiled the fifth-best stroke average by a Campbell freshman (73.0) in the program’s NCAA Division I history. He has four career top 10 finishes in 13 events. Collegiate career low round: 67 (2024 Battle at Briar’s Creek); Career-best finish: T4 (2024 Battle at Briar’s Creek).
Senior Douglas Nordlof (Saltsjobaden, Sweden) matched his best 18-hole score in a Camel uniform in the final round of the Myrtle Beach Golf Intercollegiate, where he finished T56 (77-75-70—222). He placed T33 (77-74-76—227) at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational and owns a 74.8 stroke average. Since joining the Campbell lineup as a transfer in 2022-23, he has competed in the Big South (2023) and CAA (2024) Championship. Collegiate career low round (at Campbell): 70 (2X, last at 2024 Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate); Career-best finish (at Campbell): T16 (2023 Stitch Intercollegiate).
Freshman Benjamin Killingstad (Blommenholm, Norway) finished T27 (71-70-75—216) in his collegiate debut at Grande Dunes. He has fashioned a 74.8 scoring average over six rounds and has played par, or better, golf twice. He posted eight top 10 finishes, including 4 victories, in his first 18 WAGR events. Killingstad won the 2024 Norwegian Junior National Championship (71-72-67-70).
