Morehead, Ky.– The Morehead State men’s golf team has inked two Kentucky high school seniors to join the program next fall.
Evan Taylor is a senior at nearby George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, Ky., and Weston Miller is a senior at Breathitt County High School in Jackson, Ky.
“We are extremely excited to add Evan and Weston to our program,” said MSU Head Coach Matthew Martin. “They have both competed at a high level throughout their junior golf careers and will come in ready to contribute and compete. They are also prepared to excel in the classroom. Most importantly, they are quality young men that will positively impact our campus.”
Taylor was named Second Team All-State as a senior, picking up a win in the Peninsula Classic and a second in the Cardinal Classic. He qualified as an individual for the Kentucky High School State Championship, finishing T-11 (+4). He posted a 72.3 stroke average his final high school season.
As a junior, he led his GRC team to the State Tournament and was named First Team All-State. He also picked up wins at the Eastern Kentucky Junior Championship at Eagle Trace in Morehead, and the KY PGA Junior Tour Battle @ Boone’s Trace. He added three second-place finishes in his junior-golf campaign.
Miller was a participant in the 2016 Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club. He also qualified for six consecutive U.S. Kids World Championships at Pinehurst (N.C) between 2017-2022. His Breathitt County team was All-“A” Region Champion in both his freshman and Sophomore seasons.
