OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men’s basketball team won its second straight game, taking a 93-61 victory over Kansas Christian College on Saturday night in Wilson Field House at the Andy Carrier Memorial Basketball Classic. Deondre Buggage’s first basket of the game gave him 1,000 points in an OU uniform.
The Braves took the early 14-6 lead over Kansas Christian in the opening minutes of the first half. The Falcons rallied and cut OU’s lead to one point, 19-18. Ottawa responded with an 11-0 run to take a 30-18 lead on a basket by PJ Twa with 4:21 left in the half.
A basket by Jayden Hibbitt increased the OU lead to 36-20 at the 2:05 mark. Kansas Christian ended the half on a mini 5-2 run and the Braves took a 38-25 lead into the locker room.
Ottawa extended its lead over Kansas Christian to 20 points, 47-27, on a Hibbitt basket. OU increased its lead to 34 points, 80-46, with 6:50 left in the contest on a basket by Sam Williams. KCC never threatened the OU lead and the Braves took the 93-61 victory.
