Serbian tennis player Hamad Međedović failed to win his first career title, after losing to the 17th ranked player in the world, Frenchman Hugo Ember, in two sets, 6:7, 4:6, in the final of the tournament in Marseille today. The match lasted an hour and 42 minutes.
Međedović, ranked 96th in the world, broke the Frenchman once, while Ember won two breaks. The Serbian won four points directly from serve, while Ember recorded 13 aces.
Međedović was down 3:5 in the first set, but won three consecutive games to take a 6:5 lead. The Serbian tennis player had a set point in the 12th game of the first set, but Ember managed to defend his serve in that game, and win the tie-break 7:4, thus winning the first set. Both tennis players successfully defended their serve in the second set, and Ember broke in the 10th game to win the second set 6:4 and win the match.
Ember defended his title in Marseille, France, losing only one of his last 17 indoor matches and has seven trophies in his career.
Medjedovic can take comfort in the fact that he has moved up 20 places on the ATP list, as well as the fact that he has defeated a Top XNUMX player, Daniil Medvedev, in the semifinals for the first time. Medjedovic played the Challenger final in Oeiras, Portugal, this year, while last year he reached the finals of the Belgrade Open and the tournament in Istanbul.
Pazarc was defeated by Canadian Liam Draxl in Oeiras, lost to Denis Shapovalov in the final of the tournament in Belgrade, and was defeated by Damir Dzumhur in Istanbul.
