LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Meadowbrook Golf Course has served the Lubbock community for nearly a century dating back to the 1930s.

Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Lubbock, Ben Perry, says there is only one place to go, and that is up at Meadowbrook.

The course is now under new management by Orion Golf which plans to make upgrades across the course.

Perry says they are excited for Orion Golf to come aboard and to help make this golf course accessible to everyone.

“We want to offer a good quality golf course that is consistent and ultimately affordable, a place where Lubbock golfers and the Lubbock golf community can be proud of,” Perry said.

Meadowbrook will upgrade, not only its course, but its amenity spaces and programs.

This includes new kitchen equipment, an expanded food menu, clubhouse improvements, golfing leagues and clinics.

Perry wants the community to know that Meadowbrook can be used as more than just a golf course.

“There is some programmable space out there that isn’t necessarily for just golf. You want to host a family reunion, there are opportunities to do stuff like that out there. I know some public golf courses and municipalities host weddings things of that nature,” Perry said. “So there are other non-golf opportunities at Meadowbrook that we are gonna explore and certainly try to implement.”

Perry asks the community to have patience as the course undergoes renovations and to know the Parks and Rec department hears the community’s feedback.

“Kind of trust the process. These types of things take time. We know there are some things that can make an immediate impact. New fleet of golf carts, new maintenance equipment, whatever that may be,” Perry said. “But as far as course conditions and upgrades to the course, some of those things take time and we are gonna put staff in place that we trust to accomplish that.”

The course will close Dec. 26 and is expected to open back up in February.

Perry said they will post updates on their Facebook page and send press releases to keep the public up to date on the construction progress.
