If you’re looking to support your local high school’s athletic program, ordering from the McDonald’s app on Thursday might send some dollars their way.
McDonalds locations that surround 341 schools across the state are taking part in their first High School Sports Digital Fundraiser, where 20% of the every order made through the McDonald’s app will go to the athletic programs at local public high schools as well as some charter and private schools.
Thursday’s fundraiser will benefit schools throughout the Alpena, Detroit, Flint/Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Traverse City/Cadillac markets. Every McDonald’s within each high school’s city will be participating in the fundraiser, said Marcus Owens, assistant account executive for SeyferthPR.

“This is the first-time owner/operators throughout the state have come together on one day to show our support for athletics in the communities we serve,” said McDonald’s Owner/Operator Marissa Thrower-Fisher in a press release. “Our hope is that the local communities will come out to support their high schools and help us make the High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day a success throughout the state.”
Thrower-Fisher owns McDonald’s five locations in Warren, Troy, Royal Oak and Roseville.
The digital fundraiser started last year in Ohio as local owners/operators sought support area high school athletic programs.
