Matsui In Top 30 After Opening Day At Meadow Club – University of Nevada Las Vegas Athletics
HALIFAX, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women’s golf senior sits in the top 30 to lead all Rebels after the opening rounds of San Jose State’s Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational at Meadow Club (Par 72, 6,157 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Matsui (+4) finds herself in a tie for 29th through 36 holes. She is followed in the Rebel lineup by senior Toa Yokoyama (+5) in a tie for 38th, senior McKenzi Hall (+6) in a tie for 47th, freshman Amber Chen (+11) in a tie for 65th and freshman Caitlin Shippam (+20) in 78th.
DAY-ONE LEADERS: No. 1 Stanford, which shot an opening day 17-under, holds a one-shot lead over No. 3 Oregon (-16) in second. Their top players share the individual lead as the Cardinal’s Kelly Xu and Ducks’ Karen Tsuru posted 10-under scorecards on the day.
The Rebels (+26) will look to move up from their 12th-place position in the third round.
UP NEXT: The tournament concludes with Tuesday’s final round set to begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
