KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – KCTV5 has a new leader of its sports department, promoting current sports reporter Marleah Campbell to the role of sports director.

Marleah, a native of Lenexa, Kan., joined KCTV5 in 2022. Previously, she served as sports director at WIBW in Topeka, Kan.

“Excited would be an understatement! This is a dream position for me at the station I grew up watching, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be named to this role,” she said. “The opportunity to grow our sports coverage with the talented team here at KCTV5 means the world to me.”

Marleah’s new position expands her role in the sports department alongside two accomplished teammates in veteran sports reporter Neal Jones and anchor Jared Koller.

“As a Kansas City native, I know how deeply sports are engrained in the wonderful community here,” she said. “I can’t wait to continue to share the stories of the athletes, coaches and teams across the city I love the most.”

Marleah is a multi-award-winning storyteller, recently taking home a Regional Emmy Award for her role in the station’s coverage of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII championship in Las Vegas. She’s also received multiple honors from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters.

“The Kansas City community is very familiar with Marleah’s ability to tell meaningful, impactful stories that transcend sports,” said Josh Morgan, news director at KCTV5. “We are excited for her to continue to tell those stories while offering new, innovative ways to broaden our sports content across all platforms.”

Marleah’s work will continue to be seen across all KCTV5 newscasts, as well as KC Sports Tonight, the station’s nightly livestream starting at 5:30 p.m.
