MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — AAC East, LLC (AAC East), a producer of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC), announced it is expanding its Marlboro County operations, according to Marlboro County Economic Developer Tonny McNeil.
McNeil said the company’s six million dollar investment will create 25 new jobs.
This is welcomed news for Marlboro County as the county has consistently ranked in the top 10 for unemployment rates in the state.
“Everybody that wants a job, can have a job. And you know to give a person a job is to provide for a family. And once you provide for your family. You begin to transform an entire community,” said McNeil.
AAC East produces and distributes AAC, a sustainable, lightweight and energy-efficient alternative to concrete, used in commercial and residential floor and wall systems. The company’s Bennettsville facility provides AAC blocks and panels to customers across the eastern United States.

“We greatly appreciate the support of state and local leadership, which was critical to our commitment to making additional investments and creating new job opportunities in Marlboro County. Further, this announcement is a testament to the men and women on the AAC East team, as their hard work and dedication have given us confidence that we can grow and flourish in this community,” said AAC East, LLC Managing Principal Chuck Paterno.
McNeil said they’ve had several job announcements this year and believe more good economic development news is on the way.
