Kentucky Wildcats point guard guard Kerr Kriisa remains on the road to recovery, according to head coach Mark Pope.
Kriisa, who has been sidelined due to injury, is reportedly making steady progress, a positive development for the Wildcats as they navigate a critical stretch of the season.
During his latest update, Pope shared encouraging news about Kriisa, who is now able to shed his walking boot for little segments of the day. While Kriisa remains limited in his mobility, the gradual transition out of the protective boot marks a significant step forward.
“Kerr is out of the boot for at least little segments of the day, which he’s excited about,” Pope said during his Monday radio show. “It’s not full-time, but he’ll kind of beginning some rehab here in the next couple of weeks, and then it’s just a matter of seeing how fast and cleanly he can progress.
“So we still don’t really have a timeframe, but we’re making progress on that.”
Pope emphasized the importance of taking a measured approach to ensure the guard’s long-term health and ability to contribute at full strength when he returns.
Kriisa, a dynamic guard known for his playmaking and shooting, has been a key part of Kentucky’s roster since transferring from West Virginia. His absence has undoubtedly created a gap in the Wildcats’ backcourt, but his potential return brings renewed optimism to a team striving to build momentum in conference play.
The Wildcats have shown resilience in Kriisa’s absence, relying on their depth to stay competitive. As he inches closer to returning to action, Kentucky fans and teammates alike are hopeful that Kriisa’s recovery will align with the team’s postseason aspirations.
For now, patience remains key, but all signs point to progress for Kerr Kriisa and the Wildcats.
