Mark Cuban is a rare owner even after selling the majority of the organization. He acts like any loud and passionate fan at NBA games, whether at home or on the road.

Cuban can sometimes be seen in Dallas Mavericks gear and getting into it with opposing players and fans. However, he will no longer be seen supporting his team on the road since he is barred from sitting in his acquainted spot.

“The NBA got really, really, really petty and said that I can’t sit behind the bench anymore,” Cuban told NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Cuban admitted that sitting in that spot was a violation of the league’s rules. Since he is no longer the majority owner of the team, the NBA saw it as an opportunity to put an end to Cuban sitting behind the bench.

Attending road games has also opened him up to mocking from the visiting teams’ fanbase. One notable example was when Cuban was trolled by New Jersey Nets fans in a game the Mavericks lost 121-97 on Dec. 19, 2008.

Young phenom Devin Harris lit up his former team with 41 points, and the Mavs owner was greeted with “Thank you, Cuban” chants.

The Mavs traded Harris for Jason Kidd in February 2008, and at the time, it appeared they made a mistake since Kidd looked to be on the downfall of his career while Harris was entering the conversation as one of the league’s best point guards.

However, Kidd, Cuban, and the Mavs got the last laugh, defeating the Miami Heat in six games in the 2011 NBA Finals. Many owners view their franchises as just another asset to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars.

However, Cuban saw the Mavs as more than just that, which can be refreshing for fans of the team to see.
