Marbury Middle School is excited to announce the launch of a new golf program, available to 7th and 8th-grade students for the 2024-2025 school year. With many students expressing interest in forming a school golf team, the program is set to be a valuable addition to the athletic offerings at MMS.
To support the team, Marbury Middle will be hosting a fundraiser tournament at Prattville Country Club on October 28. The tournament will be a 2-man scramble format, with registration at $200 per team. The event will begin at 8:00 AM, with an opportunity for businesses and individuals to sponsor a hole for $100 each. All proceeds from the tournament will go toward covering costs for the players in the upcoming season.
“I’m thrilled to announce an exciting new opportunity for athletes at Marbury Middle School,” said Coach Hunter Eason. “After holding an interest meeting, we quickly discovered that many of our students are passionate about starting a school golf team. This is an incredible moment for our school, and we are eager to lay the groundwork for what promises to be a successful season—and beyond.”
The new program aims to create a winning culture that emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and resilience both on and off the course. Through skill development and building player confidence, the school hopes to set up both individual players and the team for long-term success.
The golf team will also serve as a bridge for students to transition to Marbury High School’s athletic programs, ensuring that players are well-prepared for continued growth in the sport. “Together, we will build something special—strong, focused athletes who are ready to take on new challenges and achieve greatness. Let’s make this season one to remember! Go Dawgs,” added Eason.
