Manchester United are tapping into the expertise of one of the world’s leading athletics coaches, who is working with Old Trafford staff as a consultant.

Harry Marra is best known for guiding his fellow American, Ashton Eaton, to two Olympic decathlon titles in 2012 and 2016, as well as a number of other elite multi-event specialists. The 78-year-old was named World Athletics coach of the year after the Rio Games and has also served as the speed and fitness consultant for the Major League Baseball team San Francisco Giants.

Now Marra is sharing his vast knowledge and experience with the fitness and sports science staff at United, during a time when Rúben Amorim has expressed concern about the general condition of the players he took
