HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WSMV) – The man suspected of stealing a trailer full of a youth football’s leagues gear was arrested after a high-speed pursuit, according to WKDZ Radio.
WKDZ reported on Sunday afternoon, Hopkinsville Police attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by 46-year-old James Phillips, Jr., on the Pennyrile Parkway near the Pembroke Road exit.
Phillips then reportedly fled at a high rate of speed into traffic and drove through multiple stop lights.
WKDZ said the chase reached speeds over 100 miles per hour before Phillips’ vehicle left Casky Lane and drove into a field. He then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but police quickly caught him.
Phillips is accused of stealing a trailer from the Bud Hudson Youth Football League that contained $60,000 worth of equipment.
At this time, the football gear has not been recovered, WKDZ said, but police are looking into leads that point to Phillips being the possible suspect in other thefts.
WSMV has reached out to Hopkinsville Police for more information on the charges he is facing.
