A Glenn Cove man was found dead yesterday in Riverhead after the car he was driving crashed into a retaining wall in a Route 58 shopping center parking lot “at a high rate of speed,” according to Riverhead Police.
Brandon Roehrig, 41, was found dead around 2:45 p.m. after the 2021 Mini Cooper he was driving struck the wall in the rear parking lot of the shopping center at 1761 Old Country Road, which contains stores including Dick’s Sporting Goods and T.J. Maxx, police said in a press release this morning. The accident appears to be non-criminal in nature, police said.
The Riverhead Police Detective Division is investigating the incident. Any witnesses are urged to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500 or the department’s crime hotline at 631-727-3333. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
