Duke basketball’s Jon Scheyer postgame press conference vs Stanford
Here’s video of Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer’s postgame press conference after the Blue Devils’ win against Stanford.
Duke basketball’s Maliq Brown sustained what appeared to be a shoulder injury in the first half of the third-ranked Blue Devils’ 80-62 win at Virginia on Monday.
Brown played 10 minutes in the first half before deflecting a pass with his left arm at the 1:21 mark. He immediately grabbed his left arm and exited the game, walking off the court and into the tunnel with Duke athletic trainer Jose Fonseca. He didn’t return to the game, but he returned to the bench with a sling on his left arm in the second half.
Throughout the season, Brown has been among Duke’s best defenders. He entered Monday’s game with a team-high 119 deflections and is second on the team with 30 steals. His versatility as a 6-foot-9 center allows Duke to switch everything on the defensive end. He’s also an underrated passer, with multiple assists in eight games.
Brown missed Duke’s win against Incarnate Word on Dec. 10 with a toe injury and missed four more games in January because of a knee sprain.
Following the win at Virginia, Scheyer provided an update on Maliq Brown’s shoulder injury, telling media members it’s a “dislocated” left shoulder.
“It’s a big loss for us,” Scheyer said. “. … We’re gonna get him imaging, hopefully right now, tonight. Find out what the deal is and then go from there. I don’t know more than that.”
