Madison Keys has offered a positive update on her fitness after reaching the Australian Open semi-finals.
The 19th seed has returned to the final four at Melbourne Park for the first time since 2022 and she is looking in imperious form.
Keys entered the Australian Open after winning the Adelaide International, where she played with strapping on her left thigh.
Keys has continued to strap her thigh throughout her campaign in Melbourne, which fans and members of the media have kept a close eye on.
Madison Keys has certainly put her thigh under some pressure at the Australian Open, with three matches going to five sets.
The 30-year-old has had plenty of injury problems in the past, leading to other concerns about her thigh strapping.
But Keys has reassured fans that she is feeling fine after she defeated Elina Svitolina to reach the last four in Melbourne.
After beating Svitolina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, Keys told Eurosport: “Feeling good. I think I started taping in the finals of Adelaide so at this point it is just part of the uniform.”
Keys’ latest victory came in one hour and 53 minutes when she came from a set down against Svitolina.
The American has won 12 of her 13 matches to start the year and she has since won her 10th successive match.
This equals her career-best winning streak, which is identical to her first career-best winning streak in 2022.
That year Keys won the Adelaide International and reached the Australian Open semi-finals, where she was beaten by home favourite Ash Barty, who went on to win the title. In 2025, Keys aims to go one better and reach her second career Grand Slam final.
“I’m really, really proud of myself to be in another semifinal here,” Keys said. “I’m kind of hoping and looking forward to see if I can make it one step further.”
