The Valparaiso University women’s golf program and head coach Jill McCoy have announced that Maddie Soffin (Chesterton, Ind. / Chesterton) has signed to join the team beginning with the 2025-2026 academic and athletic year.
Soffin is a four-year varsity player at nearby Chesterton High School, where she is a team captain, a four-year scholar-athlete and has twice won the team’s Most Valuable Player Award. She was a 2024 sectional champion, 2023 state finalist and 2023 par-3 leader in the state.
“Valpo felt comfortable to me and seemed like the best fit to grow my academic and athletic abilities,” Soffin said.
Away from the course, Soffin is a strong student, as she has earned principal’s honor roll and served as a member of National Honor Society.
“I have known Maddie since her first golf swing,” McCoy said. “I have watched her grow into a hard-working and passionate young woman. She has a lot of hidden potential and I’m excited to watch her tap into that potential at Valpo.”
