Macy’s said on Thursday it will close 66 store locations as part of a strategy announced last year – nine are in California and two in San Diego County.
The Macy’s store at Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista is on the list, along with the Macy’s Home store in Mission Valley.
The other California closures include stores in Westminster, Los Angeles, Newark, Sacramento and San Mateo. Other states with multiple stores being shuttered include Florida, New York, Texas and Washington.
Here is the full list.
The company said it will invest in 350 “go-forward” Macy’s locations across the country through fiscal 2026.
The closures come months after the company announced it would be closing 150 “underproductive” stores over the course of three years as it struggles to get back on its feet after a lackluster 2024.
Macy’s stock shed more than 15% over the last 12 months. In December, the retailer cut its annual profit forecast due to weak demand for its apparel and shoes.
