German Eva Lys advanced to the semi-finals of the Jasmin Open by defeating qualifier Zeynep Sonmez 7-5, 6-3 at the Skanes Family Hotel Monastir.
Lys, ranked No 126, will play the winner of the match between Ukrainian qualifier Yulia Starodubtseva and qualifier Sonay Kartal next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 22-year-old German won against Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-3, 7-5) and edged out Belgian Elise Mertens, the top seed (1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4)).
Sonmez, ranked No 148, beat Spaniard Rebeka Masarova (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3) and Belgian Greet Minnen, the No 6 seed (6-4, 1-6, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Monastir tournament.
