Louisville football: Cards prepare for Washington in Sun Bowl
Here are players to watch when Louisville, Washington play in 2024 Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on New Year’s Eve.
Like most college football coaches, Louisville football coach Jeff Brohm’s December has been a juggling act.
The Cardinals‘ second-year coach has been balancing Sun Bowl preparations, retaining players and adding players from the transfer portal. So far, U of L has lost 18 players but added seven from the transfer portal. That includes its expected next starting quarterback Miller Moss, who is transferring in from USC.
Earlier this month, the workload also included securing the team’s next high school recruiting class, which ranks 53rd nationally, according to 247Sports. It’s all in a day’s work as the college football landscape continues to evolve.
“Yes, it’ll be busy with a lot of people coming on campus and some things moving and shaking, but that’s kind of how football works now,” Brohm said. “The bowl game is something that actually is the fun part. Getting to do football again, to practice, getting ready for (the) opponent, getting ready to play another game, that’s the really fun part. The recruiting part is a lot of work and it’s not fun, but it’s definitely more tedious and a lot of things are going on with that.
“I just think everybody’s got to be ready to work hard over this holiday season and get ready to try to win the football game and play some good, clean football and finish this season strong but also try to manage the roster and get yourself ready for the next year.”
Louisville 28, Washington 21. The Cardinals having key players opt out of the bowl game will play a significant role in the outcome. But U of L will have enough in the cupboard to still win the game.
