Louisiana Downs promoted Roxanne Tanner to director of racing. Tanner has been with the track for nearly three years and previously served as racing ambassador. She brings years of experience and a passion for the racing industry to her new role.
Tanner’s career includes roles both on the front side and backside at some of the most prestigious tracks in the country, including Arlington Park, Churchill Downs, Prairie Meadows and Oaklawn Park. Her well-rounded background and dedication to the sport make her the ideal leader for the racing department at Louisiana Downs.
Track owner Kevin Preston expressed his enthusiasm for Tanner’s promotion. “I couldn’t be more proud of Roxanne and all she’s done so far at the property and looking forward to her next chapter with us. Her knowledge, experience, and relationships will help carry Louisiana Downs as we continue to make improvements and enhancements to our iconic track.”
As director of racing, Tanner will oversee all racing operations and work closely with staff, horsemen and stakeholders to ensure Louisiana Downs continues to deliver a premier racing experience for fans and participants alike.
“I’m appreciative for each experience I’ve had within the industry to get me to this point,” Tanner said. “I’ve been very blessed to work with some amazing people in my racing career. Since day one with Louisiana Downs, Kevin Preston and his team have been very supportive of my goals, both racing and personally, and I look forward to achieving new goals with this historic race track.”
On Tuesday, Louisiana Downs announced that Matt Crawford was retiring as director of racing and racing secretary.
