As the Longhorns look to add to their defense, they are in the mix for one of the best talents in the 2026 class, Blaine Bradford. The Louisiana native is ranked as the top safety and the 16th-best player in the nation in his class. While the Longhorns would be ecstatic to add him to the mix, they also face competition.
Bradford’s list of schools is down to three: Texas, LSU, and Ohio State. He set a visit at each school in June and is expected to make a decision before July. On3 has Bradford committing to LSU as a high probability at 93.9%. However, that hasn’t stopped the Longhorns from trying to land a potential future star.
Luckily, the Longhorns will be the first stop on Bradford’s tour. They will be hoping to convince him that Austin is the best place for his college career. Like many in the college football world, 247Sports sees Bradford as a unique talent who can be a multi-year starter.
“Entering junior year, looks like a forward-oriented safety or linebacker who can play in space, while hitting above his weight as a striker,” Gabe Brooks wrote. “Projects to the high-major level as a potential multi-year starter with a promising future.”While the Longhorns face an uphill battle, landing Bradford would make their defense hard to beat. Their 2026 class is ranked as one of the top ten in the country. With Bradford, they could be in the top five with plenty of talent left on the board.
Over the next few weeks, Bradford will be a player to watch as his visits and deadline loom.
