MOORHEAD — Clay County kiddos got to shop ’til they dropped on Wednesday night, Dec. 18, with the help of a cop.
A total of 70 children paired up with law enforcement from across Clay County at the Moorhead Target and Dilworth Walmart.
The children had $50 to buy Christmas presents for their family, and the cops had $50 to buy gifts for the kids.
Police work can be serious business, but a Moorhead police sergeant tells WDAY that fun events like this are important work, too.
“We’re here to help. And every officer I’ve ever worked with over the last 25 years has been in this because they want to help people. This is something unique that we can do to help without having to be called out,” Sgt. Scott Lostohryz says.
Cass County law enforcement also got in on the fun.
They hosted their own “Shop with a Cop” event at the Walmart on 55th Avenue South in Fargo.
Mike McGurran has been a reporter and anchor at WDAY-TV since 2021.
