GATE CITY, Va. — Two-time NBA slam dunk champion and Gate City native, Mac McClung visited Gate City Middle School.
McClung returned to his former school to speak with Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, who was also visiting the school. The pair even played basketball with two students.
McClung also and stayed for a pep rally in the gym where he received cheers of support from the Gate City students.
“It’s something that I’ll never get used to. It’s not something that becomes numb to me ever. It’s just always surprising and something humbling every time. They put my name on the court right over there and it’s like – it’s almost emotional like, I’m very grateful,” McClung said.
McClung recently signed a partially guaranteed contract with the Orlando Magic.
