City lads finished their U-23 One-Day Tournament campaign with a 92-run defeat against Tamil Nadu at Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) on Wednesday.
Tamil Nadu has topped the pool and qualified for the knockout round. The city registered four wins in six matches and slipped to third position with two consecutive defeats in the tournament.
Tamil Nadu skipper R Vimal Kumar won the toss and opted to bat first. The side had a flying start as Kumar and Ajitesh G raised a 122-run opening wicket partnership. They posted 345/9 in the allotted 50 overs. In reply, Chandigarh were bundled out at 253 in the 46th over. Devang Kaushik (79 off 56 balls with nine boundaries and three sixes) was the top scorer for the team.
