The wait is over for Alabama basketball fans.
No. 2 Auburn is in Tuscaloosa to face the No. 1 Crimson Tide in a historic showdown. Never before in the existence of the SEC have two member teams faced off as the top two in the country.
Coach Nate Oats said this weekend was more than “bragging rights” for the rivals.
Who comes out on top in Coleman Coliseum for the first game of this season’s Iron Bowl series could very well win the regular season for the SEC, or the tournament. It might even foreshadow this year’s national champion.

Alabama (21-3, 10-1 SEC) versus Auburn (22-2, 10-1 SEC) will be broadcast on ESPN at 3 p.m. CT. Festivities began at 9 a.m. CT with a visit to Tuscaloosa from ESPN’s “College GameDay” crew.
Alabama basketball vs Auburn can be streamed via ESPN+ and Fubo.
Freshman forward Derrion Reid (lower body) was questionable to play against Texas on Tuesday and was ultimately ruled out, but coach Nate Oats told reporters on Friday that the five-star would be a “game-time decision” for Auburn. Houston Mallette (knees) and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Achilles tendon) remain on the bench for the Crimson Tide.
No players have been listed on the SEC availability report for Auburn, but star big man Johni Broome has been playing through an ankle injury since South Carolina in January.
