The rivalry between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour went a step further on Tuesday.
The Saudi-funded LIV Golf league released its full 2025 schedule, and the rogue circuit’s final three events compete head-to-head with the PGA Tour’s three postseason events.

LIV will play tournaments in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Michigan directly against the PGA Tour’s three FedEx Cup Playoff events in August. The revelation comes after LIV announced last year that it would schedule tournaments to compete head-to-head with four of the most prominent PGA Tour events of the season: the WM Phoenix Open, The Genesis, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and The Players Championship. Those four LIV events, however, are being contested overseas.
August’s events will all take place in the United States, meaning the tournaments will certainly overlap television windows. This year’s FedEx Cup Playoff events on the PGA Tour will air on CBS, while LIV Golf is reportedly close to inking a deal with Fox that would greatly expand its television footprint compared to its previous deal with The CW.
The move marks a significant departure from LIV’s original strategy of being “additive” to the professional golf ecosystem and avoiding key dates on the PGA Tour calendar.
Its certainly a bearish indicator that anything resembling a reunification of men’s professional golf is imminent, though some are speculating that the two tours’ respective memberships may begin competing together in select tournaments sooner rather than later. Recent reports suggest that LIV Golf is in talks with the European-based DP World Tour about a potential “tie-up,” and further reports suggest LIV’s funders are prepared to purchase a minority stake in PGA Tour Enterprises.
In any case, the competition this summer will make for one hell of a ratings battle. A battle that both could use a win in considering golf’s lackluster viewership in 2024.
