The International Series England event at Foxhills is the fourth International Series tournament of 2024, with a number of big names teeing it up in Surrey.
In total, 12 LIV Golf players are present and, after two rounds, it was RangeGoats GC’s Peter Uihlein who led following a course record 61 on Friday. Now, on Saturday, the American has kept his slim advantage, as a two-under third round of 69 meant Uihlein leads by one going into Sunday.
In pursuit of the 34-year-old is fellow LIV Golfer, Harold Varner III, with the 4Aces GC player carding a blemish free six-under-par round of 65 to be 11-under for the tournament. The American’s last professional victory came at LIV Golf Washington in 2023, some 18 months ago, with Varner searching for some form going into the tail-end of the LIV season.
As mentioned, the leaderboard is tight at Foxhills and, just one shot back of Varner is Richard Bland, who is currently enjoying some of the best golf of his life in 2024! Over the past few months, the Englishman claimed both the Senior PGA Championship and Senior US Open and, if he were to win at Foxhills, it would be his third professional win in just three months.
Bland is 10-under and, alongside the 51-year-old is 20-year-old, Caleb Surratt, who is part of Jon Rahm‘s Legion XIII side on the LIV Golf League. That means the top-four spots are all occupied by LIV players, with an extremely competitive leaderboard taking shape going into Sunday.
Looking further down the board, fellow RangeGoats GC player, Thomas Pieters, recovered on the back nine to post a two-over-par round of 73. The Belgian had been one shot back of Uihlein going into Saturday, but will start five shots back of his fellow teammate with 18 holes remaining.
Another player in contention is Branden Grace, who fired a level-par 71 to sit at six-under, six shots back of Uihlein. The Stinger GC player is one of the individuals at risk of losing his card from the LIV circuit, with the South African 53rd in the standings. Essentially, those who finish outside the top 48 are in the ‘drop zone’, so a good week for Grace might give him some confidence going forward into the remainder of the LIV Golf season.
One last mention is John Catlin, who has featured in some LIV events in 2024. The American leads both the Asian Tour’s Order Of Merit and the International Series Rankings and, if he were to come out on top, he would secure a spot in the LIV Golf League for 2025.
Despite a strong start at Foxhills on Saturday, a late bogey-double bogey run on the 16th and 17th dropped him to three-under, alongside nearest Order of Merit challenger, Ben Campbell, who is also three-under following a two-under round of 69.
