LINCOLN, NEB — The Lincoln Airport (LNK) is expanding its maintenance operation as SkyWest Airlines will open a new maintenance facility.
“SkyWest is continually evaluating our operation and looking for the best places around the country where our teams will be able to provide support for our aircraft and flying. This new maintenance team in Lincoln is ideally situated geographically and will help ensure we are positioned to support our fleet that provides more than 2,300 daily flights across North America,” said Joe Sigg, SkyWest VP Maintenance.
The Lincoln Airport board of directors approved a three-year lease agreement with SkyWest this past December.
Board Chairman John Olsson said this is a great supplement to the other companies that provide services on airplanes at the Lincoln airport.
“It’s pretty exciting, right? It’s where airplanes come into the airport. It’s jobs, it’s economic developments and its growth at the airport and all that’s very exciting to me and to the entire board,” said Olsson.
The SkyWest maintenance hangar will create about 25 new aviation jobs with additional support personnel.
“We appreciate the good relationship we have with the LNK team and look forward to expanding that in the future as we get our new maintenance facility up and running,” said Sigg.
