Bryce James is officially a Wildcat!
The youngest son of NBA legend LeBron James announced on Wednesday, Jan. 1 that he has committed to playing basketball for the University of Arizona, via a post on social media.
In a photo of him wearing a University of Arizona basketball uniform on the court, the 17-year-old captioned the Instagram photo by simply writing, “100% commited[sic]🐻.”
Following the public announcement that Bryce would be suiting up as an Arizona Wildcat, dad LeBron reacted with a social media post of his own.
Posting to Instagram, he shared the same photo of Bryce along with a caption calling his son by his middle name. “BEAR DOWN!!!!!” LeBron wrote. “CONGRATULATIONS Maximus!!”
Before committing to Arizona, Bryce fielded multiple offers, including ones from Ohio State and Duquesne University, which was the first school to reach out to the Sierra Canyon star in August 2022.

“Blessed to receive my first d1 offer from Duquesne #godukes,” he wrote on social media at the time.
A little over a year later, in October 2023, Bryce received an offer from Ohio State, which he shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
While playing for the Strive For Greatness grassroots program on the Nike EYBL circuit last year, Bryce averaged 6.9 points and 2.2 rebounds, according to ESPN. He also shot 39% from the field and 36.8% from 3-point range, averaging 22.0 minutes per game, the outlet reported.
Bryce signed an NIL contract with Klutch Sports in December 2022, a sports agency founded by LeBron’s friend and agent Rich Paul.
Klutch Sports announced the news of his signing on X, writing, “Welcome Bryce James!”
Bryce is the second of LeBron’s sons to further their basketball career, as current NBA and G-League player Bronny James, 20, went pro last year — making history when he and his father became the first active father-son duo to play together.
