PLANO, Texas (October 28, 2024) – Learfield Studios, in conjunction with Learfield’s Iowa-based Hawkeye Sports Properties team, were named winners of the Regional EMMY® for its Crossover at Kinnick presented by State Farm docuseries. The award, which was presented this weekend at the Mid-America EMMY® Awards in Kansas City, came in the Sports Program – Post Produced or Edited category.
Produced and distributed in Fall 2023, Crossover at Kinnick was a three-part series promoting the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team, including Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin and other Iowa stars, and their pre-season game held in the university’s football stadium, which set an all-time attendance record for a women’s basketball game. Sponsored by State Farm, the docuseries highlighted the team’s meteoric rise to the top of the women’s basketball landscape and delivered behind-the-scenes footage on the preparation for the historic exhibition game, as well as the community’s buy-in to the program and the positive effect these student-athletes had on the Hawkeye family.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring home a Regional Emmy®! It’s a true testament to Learfield’s commitment to authentic storytelling and original content for our amazing university partners and their student athletes,” said Grant Jones, SVP of Learfield Studios and Head of Content. “Crossover at Kinnick blended the passion of Iowa Women’s Basketball with community dedication and partnerships like the Kid Captain program, capturing the unique emotion and spirit only college sports can deliver.”
