FARMVILLE, Va. – Justin LaRue and Hunter Swidzinski were named the Big South Men’s Golfer and Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced today.
The duo led Longwood to its first win of the season as the Lancers were 18-under as a team. Three players finished in the top 10.
LaRue rolled through two rounds with a 67-69—136 (-8) to earn co-medalist honors. It was his third straight tournament where he finished first or tied for first.
Meanwhile, Swidzinski ripped off his best finish of the season with back-to-back rounds below par. He shot a 71-67—138 (-6) to finish tied for fourth for his first top four finish in his Longwood career.
The team’s 36-hole score of 282-276—558 (-18) was the second-best raw score in program history.
Longwood next plays at the Surf Club Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 10-11. The event is hosted by Appalachian State at The Surf Golf & Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
