Los Angeles is already burnishing the legend of its newest superstar, five-time All-NBA First Team guard Luka Doncic.
A mural depicting Doncic and late Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant meeting circa 2019 (Doncic was with the Dallas Mavericks at the time, but wears a Lakers jersey in the mural), painted by artist Arutyun Gozukuchikyan, recently went up in front of Carrera Cafe on 8251 Melrose Avenue in Beverly Grove.
Doncic has played just two games for L.A thus far, and is averaging 23.5 minutes while under a strict minutes limit. But his achievements with Dallas prior to his trade to Tinseltown this month have already cemented his status as one of the league’s best players.
Once he fully recuperates from his calf injury and his minutes restriction is lifted later this week, a new era of Lakers basketball will begin in earnest.
And his new city will be ready.
