The NBA 2K25 player ratings for the incoming 2024-25 rookie class were released on Friday.
Zaccharie Risacher of the Atlanta Hawks and Alex Sarr of the Washington Wizards, the No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks in the 2024 draft, both received the highest rating among first-year players at 75 overall.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James also received his 2K rating, with the No. 55 overall pick in the draft ranked among his second-round peers with a 68 rating.
Stephon Castle, Reed Sheppard, and Donovan Clingan all earned the second-highest ratings among rookies at 73 overall.
Risacher’s rating is commendable, although it represents a decrease compared to No. 1 picks in past years. Paolo Banchero earned a 78 rating ahead of his rookie season with the Orlando Magic in 2022, while Victor Wembanyama set a record with his 84 overall rating prior to his San Antonio Spurs regular-season debut.
Sarr owns an identical rating as Risacher, as the two players were both initially in contention for the top selection in the draft.
He eventually fell to the Wizards at No. 2, although his Summer League performance was uneven. Sarr’s defensive abilities were on full display, averaging 2.5 blocks and 0.8 steals per game in four appearances. However, he scored a mere 5.5 points per game while shooting 19.1 percent from the field and 11.8 percent from behind the arc.
James also experienced some struggles in Las Vegas, as he dealt with inconsistency from behind the arc. He was able to get back on track before the conclusion of Summer League action, scoring at least 12 points in each of his final two games.
Risacher and Sarr are in line for sizable roles on their respective teams during their 2024-25 campaigns, giving them an opportunity to improve their ratings once the regular season begins.
