The New York Knicks are among the most dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference, but they’ve been scrutinized for failing to make a splash during the trade season.
Although Precious Achiuwa has been impactful in spurts for the Knicks, and Mitchell Robinson is expected to return to action soon, New York could acquire a two-time NBA champion forward on the buyout market to assist Karl-Anthony Towns.
Chris Boucher played only one game with the Golden State Warriors during the 2017-18 season but won an NBA championship with the franchise as a rookie.
The following season, as a Toronto Raptor, Boucher averaged 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in 28 regular season contests, exhibiting growth as an undrafted second-year contributor.
Boucher also won his second NBA title after the Raptors, led by Kawhi Leonard, capitalized on the Golden State Warriors’ injury struggles and defeated the storied franchise in six games.
While the Oregon product hasn’t reached the finals since then, he’s received an expanded role with the Raptors and established himself as a solid NBA role player.
As a 32-year-old veteran, Boucher averages 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest, shooting 50% from the field and 37.1% from downtown.
Boucher, a lanky forward who can play on the perimeter, utilize his 7-foot-4 wingspan to finish around the rim, and hold his own defensively, could give the Knicks much-needed comfort from a frontcourt perspective.
However, with the Raptors appealing to have little interest in buying the Castries, Saint Lucia native out, the Knicks shouldn’t feel great about their chances of landing him this season.
