More heavyweight action is set for ONE 171 in Qatar on Feb 20 as Kirill Grishenko and Mauro Cerilli will meet in the cage sources tell Cageside Press.
Grishenko (6-2) is coming off a tough decision victory over Ji Won Kang last July at ONE Fight Night 23. The Belarus native holds victories over Oumar Kane, Dustin Johnson, and Kang in ONE.
Cerilli (15-5) comes off a TKO victory over Paul Elliot in Sept 2023. His lone bout in 2024 against Ben Tynan was called off with no reason given. “The Hammer” is 3-3 in ONE, but every fight has been a barn burner and all of his victories come by finish.
Grishenko has challenged for the interim heavyweight strap once against Anatoly Malykhin in 2022 falling short via knockout. Since then he’s been hoping for another shot at the belt with an impressive showing against Cerilli possibly putting him back in contention.
At one point he seemed to be on the fast track to a title, but setbacks have put him in a predicament of having to put on devastating finishes to earn his spot back at the top of the heavyweight division.
