Boutique kickboxing gym KickHouse Scottsdale is celebrating its first anniversary with a fresh take on fitness. Owned by husband and wife duo Matt and Becky Hasher, the gym has broken the stereotype of intimidating boxing gyms, creating an inviting space for fitness enthusiasts of all levels.
The journey to Scottsdale began when the Hashers, who split their time between Arizona and Colorado, discovered a KickHouse gym near Denver. Becky, a regular attendee, convinced Matt to try a class. His experience reminded him of rugby’s physical and mental demands, which left him hooked.
“Kickboxing is an open-chain exercise – an energy transfer occurs when you hit the bag. It’s a unique feeling for someone who has never punched anything before,” Matt said. “You can let go of negative thoughts. The workout is a physical and mental experience; you can leave all your stress and worries on the bag.”
The couple decided to bring the franchise to Scottsdale, aiming to introduce the city to the transformative power of kickboxing. The studio provides physical fitness and self-empowerment. The gym offers a range of classes that blend classic kickboxing with yoga, circuit training, and more. First-time attendees can enjoy a complimentary class, complete with provided gloves.
“KickHouse Scottsdale is the exact opposite of what one might think of when they imagine a typical fight gym or boxing gym. It is bright, open, airy, and clean, and it smells good. Our coaches are welcoming and encouraging,” Matt said. “There is no intimidation factor here. We want every person who walks through the door to have such a great experience with us that they want to come back again.”
That welcoming atmosphere sets KickHouse apart, and the Hashers are dedicated to ensuring everyone who walks through the door feels like part of the community. Members can book one-on-one appointments with certified coaches for personalized fitness advice, skill-building, and nutrition guidance. KickHouse hosts special events and challenge programs, making fitness fun and engaging.
This emphasis on holistic wellness is a core part of the KickHouse philosophy. The gym provides members with various classes, from PowerKick to FamilyKicks, designed to push limits and build confidence.
The Hashers are excited about growing their gym and expanding their impact within the Scottsdale community. They plan on introducing more programs and collaborations that reflect their commitment to a balanced lifestyle. For more information, visit thekickhouse.com.
