RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Its the top of the new year and many people are setting goals. Finance and fitness are the most common.
Some people woke up with the “new year, new me” mindset and went to Crunch Fitness in Sparks to chase their fitness goals.
“Every single moment it matters the effort that you put into it,” said Mason Cunningham, the personal training manager. “If you get used to pushing yourself in those small moments. That’s why I say, “Let’s go, find what you’re made of right now”. If you get used to doing that, it translates to everything in the rest of your life.”
Crunch personal trainers say there is always a spike in attendance at the top of the year and slowly drops off by February.
“Everyone is more motivated to start off the year,” said John Smith the general manager. “They all come in and we give them tours, show them the gym and show them what we have to offer. We have so much to offer at Crunch. It gets people excited. We help them stay motivated to keep them coming back. Not just sign up and go back to the couch.”
Oftentimes people will lose interest or motivation but it’s recommended to set small goals, focus on showing up consistently or work out with a friend. But everyone has their own motivations.
“That’s kind of part of my job, is to not just train people but find out what is really motivating them,” added Cunningham. “Then they start thinking about things, like “Hey you know this is going to set me up for the rest of my life to not only be healthier but set an example for my family.”
The most common goals people have are to lose weight and gain muscle. Crunch offers a variety of Zumba, Pilates, yoga, cycling and high-intensity classes. If you are new to working out or want a coach, Crunch offers guidance.
“We have programs here. Something that we offer is called a CrunchOne Kickoff. It is included with every membership we have. It’s a session with a personal trainer that will take you to any goals or what you are looking to achieve. 80% of the people that do the CrunchOne Kickoff achieve their goals,” said the general manager.
More information about their membership programs can be found, here.
“We go through what your goals are, we find out what is motivating you. We put you on the body scan and you can keep using that just as a member. We will put you through a free workout, that way you can see what we offer here,” said Cunningham.
