FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – The Holiday shopping season begins this weekend in downtown Freeport, continuing a tradition of Holiday cheer.
The Mistletoe Walk will be held Saturday, Nov. 23.
Businesses will open their doors, offering all their shopping, dining and holiday experiences in one day.
Carolers from around the community will walk the streets, and live music appearances are scheduled throughout downtown.
From noon to 4 p.m., free horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered.
At 5 p.m. in front of the Stephenson County Courthouse, a holiday tree lighting will take place with an appearance from Santa Claus.
Following the tree lighting, participating businesses will offer hot beverages while you shop until 8 p.m. for the Hot Cocoa Stroll.
A s’mores station is a new addition this year, located at 15 W. Stephenson Street.
