Brad Cox is off to a good start on the road to the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks.
Immersive, the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner and presumptive Eclipse Award winner as 2-year-old filly, stands atop the leaderboard with 40 points. A Godolphin homebred by Nyquist, her 4-for-4 record includes Grade 1 wins in the Spinaway and Alcibiades.
An undefeated Cox filly also holds the no. 2 spot on the leaderboard. Good Cheer, a daughter of Medaglia d’Oro and also a Godolphin homebred, is 4-for-4 after her win in the Golden Rod (G2) last out.
The latest stop on the Kentucky Oaks trail was the Santa Ynez on Sunday at Santa Anita. Look Forward, a Bold d’Oro filly trained by Michael McCarthy, won by a head as the favorite and earned 10 qualifying points.
Next up is a series of stakes that offer 20 points to the winner, beginning Jan. 18 with the Silverbulletday (G2) at Fair Grounds and the listed Busanda at Aqueduct.
