Training up to a possible start March 1 in the Grade 1 Santa
Anita Derby, former Kentucky Derby 2025 futures favorite Journalism returned to
the work tab Sunday.

The Michael McCarthy-trained winner of the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) on Dec. 14 turned in a
five-furlong drill that was clocked at 59.8 seconds at Santa Anita.

Journalism was one of Sunday’s 11 work-tab entries whose
names also appear in the Derby futures market. Forty-one hopefuls for the May 3
classic at Churchill Downs turned in workouts since Tuesday.

Sunday

Journalism (Curlin), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Los
Alamitos Futurity), worked five furlongs in 59.8 seconds at Santa Anita. It was
the eighth fastest of 91 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days
ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the Los
Alamitos Futurity (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Los Alamitos on
Dec. 14 for trainer Michael McCarthy.

Brodeur (Nyquist) worked four furlongs in 51.0 seconds at Oaklawn.
It was the 64th fastest of 68 works at the distance. This was his first work
since his last race. In his last start he won an allowance race going 1 1/16
miles on the main track at Oaklawn on Jan. 26 for trainer Mark Casse.

Built (Hard Spun) worked four furlongs in 50.0 seconds at Fair
Grounds. It was the 71st fastest of 113 works at the distance. His previous
work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start
he placed second in the Lecomte (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at
Fair Grounds on Jan. 18 for trainer Wayne Catalano.

Bullard (Gun Runner), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Bob Hope), worked five
furlongs in 1:00.8 at Santa Anita. It was the 33rd fastest of 91 works at the
distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa
Anita. In his last start he placed third in the San Vicente (G2) going seven
furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 4 for trainer Michael
McCarthy.

Getaway Car (Curlin), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Best Pal), worked five
furlongs in 59.4 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the fourth fastest of 91 works
at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at
Santa Anita. In his last start he placed second in the Los Alamitos Futurity
(G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Los Alamitos on Dec. 14 for
trainer Bob Baffert.

Kale’s Angel (Complexity) worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at
San Luis Rey. It was the sixth fastest of nine works at the distance. This was
his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Renaissance
going six furlongs on the main track at Oaklawn on Jan. 18 for trainer Peter
Miller.

Magnitude (Not This Time) worked four furlongs in 50.8 seconds at
Fair Grounds. It was the 94th fastest of 113 works at the distance. His
