Getaway Car, winner of the Sunland Park Derby and sixth in the Kentucky Derby 2025 points standings, worked Monday morning for trainer Bob Baffert.
The Curlin colt went four furlongs in 50.2 seconds, 38th fastest of 51 at the distance.
In addition to earning 20 Derby points with the Sunland Park Derby victory, Getaway Car got points for finishing second in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2), fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and second in the American Pharoah (G1).
Another colt with Derby points who worked Monday was Poster, who breezed five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Turfway Park for trainer Eoin Harty and was fastest of three at the distance.
The Munnings colt is no. 23 on the Derby leaderboard with 16 points, earned with his win in the Remsen (G2) and third-place finish last out in the Sam F. Davis.
Getaway Car and Poster were among five horses in Las Vegas futures for Kentucky Derby 2025 who had published works Monday.
Getaway Car (Curlin), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Best Pal), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 38th fastest of 51 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Sunland Park Derby going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Sunland Park on Feb. 16 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Modus Bestia (Maclean’s Music) worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 21st fastest of 51 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed second in a maiden race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 25 for trainer Richard Baltas.
Monet’s Magic (Good Magic) worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Oaklawn on Monday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 13 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fifth in the Southwest (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on Jan. 25 for trainer Ben Colebrook.
Poster (Munnings), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Remsen), worked five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Turfway Park on Monday morning. It was the fastest of three works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Turfway Park. In his last start he placed third in the Sam F. Davis going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 8 for trainer Eoin Harty.
Tip Top Thomas (Volatile) worked four furlongs in 48.3 seconds at Palm Beach Downs on Monday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. In his last start he placed second in the Champagne (G1) going one mile on the main track at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 5 for trainer Todd Pletcher.
