College basketball freshmen who are making a case to be lottery picks
Here are 3 freshmen who are playing their way into becoming lottery picks for the 2025 NBA Draft.
NORMAN, Okla. — The Kentucky basketball roster is slowly returning to full strength.
Starting guards Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson, who recently have been sidelined with injuries, no longer were listed on the SEC’s availability report, which posted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, two hours prior to tipoff against Oklahoma at the Lloyd Noble Center. That means each is available to play tonight versus the Sooners.
Butler, the Wildcats‘ starting point guard, has sat out the past three games (Texas, Vanderbilt and Alabama) after he reinjured his shoulder in the second half of a home win over Tennessee on Feb. 11. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound Butler leads the team in assists (4.6) and steals (1.8) per game.
A fellow fifth-year senior guard, Robinson injured his wrist in a practice collision Feb. 7. He went on to play the following day in a victory over South Carolina but hasn’t taken the floor since, sitting out the wins against Tennessee and Vanderbilt as well as the setbacks to Texas and Alabama.
Before his wrist injury, Robinson had started in all 23 of UK’s games to that point. His 13.3 points per outing is No. 2 on the Wildcats, trailing Otega Oweh, who averages 15.7 per game.
UK and Oklahoma are slated to tip off at 9 p.m. today at the Lloyd Noble Center.
The contest between the Wildcats and Sooners will air on SEC Network. Roy Philpott (play-by-play) and Richard Hendrix (analyst) will have the call.
Authenticated subscribers can access SEC Network via TV-connected devices or by going to WatchESPN.com, the WatchESPN app or ESPN+.
You also can stream ESPN on Fubo, which offers a free trial.
Tom Leach (play-by-play) and Jack Givens (analyst) will have the UK radio network call on 840 AM in Louisville and both 630 AM and 98.1 FM in Lexington.
You can also listen online via UKAthletics.com.
