Ken Brown retired Sunday as track superintendent for the Maryland Jockey Club. Brown joined MJC during a period of significant challenges and played a pivotal role in stabilizing operations, ensuring the safety and integrity of the racing surfaces at Laurel Park and Pimlico Racecourse.

To ensure a smooth transition and continuity of excellence, Danny Finke has been appointed interim track superintendent. With 40 years of experience on the MJC track crew, Finke is a highly respected figure in the racing community. His deep knowledge of track maintenance and commitment to the sport make him an ideal choice to step into this interim role.

“Ken Brown’s leadership has been instrumental in navigating MJC through a challenging period and raising the standard of our racing surfaces,” said Mike Rogers, acting president of MJC. “As we prepare for his well-earned retirement, we are confident in Danny Finke’s ability to lead during this transitional period.
