BLANCO, Texas – Hailey Katona shot 78-75 – 153 to lead the Central Michigan women’s golf team on Monday during the first two rounds of the Texas State Invitational at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.
Katona is tied for 14
th in the 63-player field.
The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament is CMU’s first of the spring portion of its 2024-25 season.
Katona led the Chippewas to a 318 team score in Monday’s opening round. The Chippewas posted a 312 team total in Monday’s second round and stand at 630 and in eighth place in the 10-team field.
CMU trails seventh-place Sacred Heart (626) by four shots.

Host Texas State and Houston Christian both posted a 605 team total on Monday to share first place. They lead third-place Drake (613) by seven shots.
Summer Lee of Oklahoma State shot 71-69 – 140 and stands in first place with a three-shot lead over Yvonne Chamness of Texas State (73-70 – 143). Lee is playing as an individual.
