WASHINGTON, Iowa (KCRG) -U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, a Republican from Iowa, traveled to the Middle East on her 4th trip to stand with Israel since the attacks on October 7th. She traveled with Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican from Iowa, Jim Banks, a Republican from Indiana, and John Curtis, a Republican from Utah. Their goal was to help promote a deal that would bring American hostages home, ensure the survival of Israel, and destroy Hamas’ ability to reconstitute the region.
During the visit, Ernst highlighted the importance to bring Americans who are still held by Hamas, back to the United States. “We must keep working on a deal that ensures the forever survival of Israel, destroys Hamas’ ability to reconstitute in the region, and releases our hostages. During this visit, we pressed regional officials to use their leverage to secure such a deal.” Ernst said.
“Following Hamas’s unprovoked, heinous invasion of Israel on Oct 7, we have been diligently meeting with families and Heads of State to advocate for the release of all hostages still being held in Hamas captivity. Hamas’s recent murder of six hostages, including American citizen Hersh Goldberg Polin, is yet another tragedy that underscores the brutality of this terrorist organization. We will continue to forcefully push for the release of all the hostages.” Miller Meeks’ said.
