Jon Rahm and Legion XIII, his LIV Golf team, have made history for the Saudi-backed league.

They became the first team to sign an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) deal with a major brand as they inked with Callaway Golf per Sports Business Journal.

Since last summer, there have been rumors and rumblings about this deal, but it is finally official. However, no details on the deal were available.

Rahm has worn a Callaway hat this season, which is new after he wore a pink Legion XIII all of last year. The LIV Golf Captain is a long-time Callaway staffer. He signed with the brand in 2021 after he started his career with TaylorMade.

Since he made that change, Rahm went on to win the 2021 U.S. Open and the 2023 Masters.

His Legion XIII teammates, Caleb Surratt and Tom McKibbin, the newest addition, play with Callaway clubs, so this deal makes sense.

However, the fourth team member, Tyrrell Hatton, is a long-time PING staffer. Hatton has worn a PING hat since he played on the PGA Tour.

Will Hatton switch to Callaway or will there be an exception for him? With no deal terms available, it is hard to know.

This arrangement is massive for not just Legion XIII but LIV Golf as a whole.

“We are committed to being an equipment leader wherever top players are competing, Now the time is right to cement our relationship with Jon and his team — utilizing his exceptional talent and stature within the game to help engage and excite fans around the globe.”

When the Saudi-backed league launched, many major golf brands refused to participate. There has been movement now that LIV is heading into its third season as more and more brands are announcing their involvement.

Greyson Clothier announced in February that it is the official apparel sponsor of the all-Aussie team, Ripper GC.

Rick Shiels, a golf influencer, joined as a LIV Golf brand ambassador in January 2025.

However, Callaway’s signing of this deal shows confidence in the longevity of this team-based league.

“I’m so happy to enhance this incredible relationship with Callaway and extend it with Legion XIII,” Rahm said in the press release.

“I’ve played the best golf of my career with their equipment over the past four years, and they continue to set the bar higher with every new product line. I know this partnership will have a tremendously positive impact for me and my teammates.”

For the 2025 season, Rahm will have the all-new Elyte Triple Diamond Driver, Apex TCB Irons, a Chrome Tour X golf ball and an Odyssey AI-One Putter.

LIV Golf is in Hong Kong this week for its fourth tournament of 2025. They will go to Singapore March 14-16. Then the league will play their first United States tournament April 4-6 at Trump National Doral in Miami.
