Joe Burrow made a surprise trip to the land down under this weekend with an appearance at the Australian Open semifinals.
A video posted on Instagram by the tournament Friday shows Burrow saying he’s excited to be in the sun watching top athletes compete.
“What’s up guys? Joe Burrow here at the Australian Open. Excited to be here in the sun seeing the top athletes do what they do,” Burrow said in the video.
Locally, the Cincinnati Open added their own thoughts to the post.
“We’ll be warming up the Cincy courts for ya soon 👀,” Cincinnati’s tennis tournament commented on Instagram.
The Australian Open is the first of four major annual tennis tournaments worldwide. Men’s and women’s competitions started on Jan. 6 and ended today.
Burrow is officially one of the five finalists for the NFL’s MVP award given on Feb. 8.
The 28-year-old is a finalist along with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.
In addition to MVP, Burrow is also a finalist for the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year and AP Comeback Player of the Year. Burrow led the NFL in passing yards (4,918) and passing touchdowns (43) last season. After a severe wrist injury that ended his 2023 campaign, Burrow went on to have his best professional season and that’s why he will likely win Comeback Player of the Year award.
